Mental Health Counselor Intern

Some of our providers will have "Mental Health Counselor Intern" listed underneath their name above.

Below are just some of the reasons you may want to work with our wonderful interns.

Our fully licensed providers closely supervise our interns

Interns always have one or two clinical supervisors: one clinical supervisor at our offices, and often one clinical supervisor in their educational program. Their supervisors are fully licensed and credentialed and often have special supervisory training. Interns review and consult with their supervisor(s) on all or their cases. This means that you are receiving the expertise and time of two or three therapists invested in working with you.

Interns are always learning the most up-to-date techniques and theories

Interns are actively involved in their academic environment while completing their Master’s degree. It is an intern’s job to learn about how to be outstanding in serving you every day. Our interns not only spend a great amount of their time in ongoing learning, but they also invest time collaborating with their colleagues to deepen their understanding, develop new methods, and advance current methodology.

A great amount of investment and energy is devoted

All of us at Walnut Creek Psychiatry are "Here For You" but YOU are an intern's largest focus during this time, as they are completing their Master’s degree program. Learning and practicing are our interns' full-time jobs. As our patient, you will benefit from working with someone who is dedicated to giving you the best care possible. Interns are incredibly energized, excited, and happy to provide you with the quality care you deserve.

Interns are not fully licensed yet, so they often work on a reduced fee scale rather than charging an hourly rate equal to what a fully licensed provider would charge. If you don’t have insurance, have a high deductible, or pay out of pocket, interns may offer a price point that fits your budget.
