Andrea graduated with her bachelor's degree from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, and with her master's degree from the University of Denver Graduate School of Social Work with a concentration in children and youth, while obtaining a school social work certificate. Andrea served as a school social worker in both Colorado and Iowa prior to starting at Walnut Creek Psychiatry. She is passionate about children and their mental health and focuses on the children’s strengths when working with them.

Andrea is passionate about systems theory and believes the best outcomes for kids happen when everyone works as a team and is on the same page. Andrea serves children and adolescents as a therapist at both the Ames Walnut Creek Psychiatry office and in the schools. She has received training in play therapy, CBT, DBT, ACT, and SFBT. In her free time, Andrea enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, golden retriever, friends, and being active!
